Although the subscription is now priced at £78.95 you can still subscribe at the review price of £68.95 by clicking here.

TheGenealogist has added over a million UK records since the last email news in September. These consist of Parish records, Wills, Ruvigny’s Rolls of Honour with photos and more overseas BMDs. See our Online News section for more details.

The value of our unique search tools has already enabled people to find families and break down brick walls, see this month’s article on Brick Walls . If you have an interesting tale to tell about how our records have helped you to trace your roots to fame or discover a celebrity relative, you could win £100 worth of vouchers. The best article of the year wins a computer. See featured articles under the Community section of TheGenealogist.

Forums are a great place to discuss your research and the launch of Roots-forum.co.uk gives you a chance to get help with problems, learn about events and even track down societies or archives. De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour 1914-1918
NEW: We have added to our Roll of Honour Transcript the De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour 1914-1918. This online database includes biographies of over 25,000 men of the armed forces who lost their lives in the Great War. About 7,000 of the entries have linked photographs. The level of detail given varies due to the variety of sources used but all include the persons regiment, place and date of death. The families often lodged the biography with the publisher and these entries go into great detail about their lives. The Roll of Honour also contains the National Roll of Honour, British Roll of Honour and Bond of Sacrifice records. The number of records available to search, and view, is nearly 1,150,000. Click the images on the right to see an example record and portrait.

Directory Resources are both a research tool and a valuable insight into the lives of our ancestors and what governed their lives. With over 100 directories added this month, we have also created a new way of searching them.

This easy-to-use search tool enables you to search all directories using a forename and/or surname. You can choose to either search all counties, or pick a particular county to search from the list on the right-hand side (click on the image to see an example).

This has been added to the all-inclusive subscribtions, at no extra cost to our subscribers. Why not try a free trial of TheGenealogist.co.uk?

What A Bonney Idea

By Mark Dodd

For several months I have been tracing the many branches of my wife’s family in Australia. After spending many hours searching through the various shipping records I was almost ready to give up. Then I saw the Family Forename Search on The Genealogist. I took the gamble and paid my registration fee and started to use the Family Forename Search. I entered the name of Benjamin and wife and four of his children and restricted the search to Sussex and up came a single hit.

A brick wall that had stumped me for months was solved by the excellent Family Forename Search tool in a couple of minutes!
