This week sees the launch of the full London
1911 Census on TheGenealogist with over 4.4 million records
and high resolution colour images. The site is also releasing more
parish registers, electoral rolls, visitations and directories.
They are also accelerating the release of more counties with over
6 counties going live over the next 6 weeks.
To tie-in with this major release, this month's article takes a
look at the life of Lillie Langtry, known as 'The Jersey Lily',
who can be found in our London 1911 Census transcripts. Her affairs
with princes and celebrities caused quite a stir.
Our offer in this edition is for a
six month Diamond
subscription for only £74.45 saving £15 when using the code
ENAUG11W.

This Saturday there is a major family history event with large
numbers of societies and companies attending the West
Midlands Family History Fair at Worcester's Six Ways Rugby Club.
You can learn how to break down brick walls in your research by
attending one of the free talks, as well as meet other societies
and members. This is another event sponsored by TheGenealogist.
All talk attendees and customers of S&N can get a free copy
of the YFT Regional Guidebook. This lists the record offices, archives
and local study centres and other sources for each county with a
history of each regions development.
S&N will also be attending the New
Zealand Family History Fair on 26th & 27th August,
and have already been booked for a number
of talks throughout the week. We will
be available for talks to Societies, Archives and Libraries
in Australia and New Zealand from 27th August to 6th September.
Our new CDs this month include
thousands of entries from directories, peerage CDs, military history,
and new army lists.
FHS-Online.co.uk has now launched
a Gloucestershire
section covering marriage licenses and banns it
also has recently added several hundred thousand individuals to
Worcestershire
baptisms taking the total records to over 780,000.
Thousands of Devonshire
parish records have also just been launched.
The site is free to
search so don't forget to check
for your ancestors. With a subscription to an individual society's
records starting at £4.95 for a year it offers tremendous
value for money. These records are also available to
Diamond
subscribers on TheGenealogist.

We are always interested in microfilm/microfiche of original
records, in particular parish records, Scottish census and electoral
registers.
Also, if you have old books (pre 1930) of parish record transcripts,
electoral registers, poll books and directories, let us know.
We have the latest scanning technology to allow us to photograph
loan books without damage.
We are happy to reward you for the loan of these items, simply
let us know what you have. We also have volunteer
transcribers who are waiting to help with these projects. If you
are interested in transcription work please visit www.UKindexer.co.uk. |
