The workshops organised by the Society of
Genealogists provide a rich resource for
extending your knowledge in areas of interest.
With more than one hundred sessions, they
cover a vast range of topics from first steps
to building your family tree and using online
databases, to researching by specific
occupations, locations and religions.
Each
workshop is led by a top expert in genealogy;
there is something to help everybody no matter
how complex their family history.
The workshops are spread across three
different rooms: SoG2, SoG3 and The Regional
Workshop. The latter complements the regional
focus of the Society of Genealogists and will help
you in your research of local areas in the UK.
If you are new to genealogy, then we have a
number of beginners workshops just for you. As
a novice, you may need help in getting started
and using the basic resources such as birth,
marriage and death certificates; census returns
and parish registers.
John Titford - WDYTYA Live! 2010
TheGenealogist.co.uk, which is sponsoring all the workshops, will
also be hosting a
number of free talks on
its stand, with
speakers including
John Titford and Nigel Bayley. They
will be covering
topics such as
regional accents and dialects and describing how
to use a new searchable photographic database
giving detailed images and information.

parish records, Scottish census and electoral registers.
Also if you have old books (pre 1930) of parish record transcripts, electoral registers,

We are happy to reward you for the loan of these items,

let us know what you have. We also have volunteer transcribers who are
waiting to help with these projects. If you are interested in transcription work please
