Anselm Ungar was a citizen of Bonn, one of Johann Gottfried Kinkel's Democratic Association there. After the failure of the 1848 revolution, he and others formed a Gesellschaft (Company) of like-minded people who wished to escape to North America.. Taken from Ungar's own notebook of the voyage.
