St James, Lower Darwen was consecrated on 15 March 1829 and there is a large graveyard. This CD covers the period up to the end of 1995, a total of 1,171 gravestones and with the War Memorial includes over over 3,900 names.

The Church was built in 1819-21, at a cost of ?13,000 and it was consecrated on September 11th, 1821. It was demolished in 1976 and local Council are planning to build a road across the graveyard.
