On March 26 th 1569 , due to the threat of Spanish forces, the Privy Council issued a directive to the counties to hold a general muster of all men over 16 . Certificates of the muster, with the names of the men and their equipment, were to be returned by July 1 st though this was later extended to August 12 th . This CD contains a searchable transcript for Devon of this Muster.
