Trade Section - a list of the merchants, tradesmen, etc., in the Manchester and Salford area, listed under trade or profession headings, in a similar way to the modern Yellow Pages. 44 pages. Post Office Section - a list of the merchants, manufacturers and tradesmen in the market towns and principal villages within 24 miles of Manchester, also the town and borough of Preston. In sections by place, with surnames listed alphabetically within each one. Includes Post Office information. Places covered include : Altrincham, Ashton under Line (6 pages), Audenshaw, Bacup, Blackburn (9 pages), Bolton (12 pages), Bullock Smithy and Poynton, Burnley, Bury (7 pages), Buxton, Chapel en le Frith, Cheadle, Chorley, Chorlton, Congleton and Astbury, Denton and Haughton, Didsbury with Rusholme and Withington, Droylsden and Fairfield, Eccles, Failsworth, Glossop, Haslingden, Hebden Bridge, Hyde, Irlam, Knutsford, Leigh, Macclesfield (6 pages), Marple, Middleton, Middlewich, Mottram, New Mills, Northwick, Oldham (11 pages), Preston (11 pages), Rochdale (12 pages), Runcorn, Saddleworth, Slaithwaite, Stockport (7 pages), Todmorden, Warrington (6 pages), Whitefield, Wigan (8 pages), Wilmslow, and neighbouring areas. 165 pages.
