If you have data files in Brother's Keeper version 5.0 to 5.2 then you can convert the data files into the BK6 Windows format by picking File from the main menu and then pick Convert BK5 to BK6. It will ask you where your old data files are located. It will convert those data files into the new format and place the data files in the folder that is currently open.
There are several options so take your time and set them correctly before doing the conversion. The text or picture files can be moved to a new folder. To pick a different folder name for text or pictures, pick File, Options from the main screen before doing the conversion.
If you have several BK5 databases, such as: C:\BK5\SMITH and C:\BK5\JONES then you will need to run the convert routine one time for each database.
If you have data in Brother's Keeper 4.0 to 4.5 then contact John Steed about a conversion program. (Or if you have the CD, the Convert5 program is on the CD - see the ReadMe file for help.)
If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7 or Windows 8 you might need to set the BK6 program to run with administrator rights.
1-Right-Click on the program shortcut
2-Select "Properties"
3-Click the "Compatibility" tab
4-Tick "Run this program as an administrator"
6-Click "Apply"
7-Click "OK"
