Error when installing: "mfc100.dll missing" (Version 5)

If you are running Windows XP please ensure Service Pack 3 is installed.

If it is not please use Windows Update to download and install it. Alternatively you can download the SP3 package from: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx

Once SP3 is installed, please reinstall Family Historian.

I have no registration key.

If you have purchased the Deluxe edition: There should be a small piece of paper in the box which gives you a registration key.

If you have purchased the Upgrade edition: Remove the CD from the paper sleeve. The code should now be visible through the window. There should be a piece of paper inserted in to the CD sleeve. Check to make sure that this is present and that it has not been inserted back to front.

If there is definetly not a code included with your package, please contact Family Historian to obtain a new code. You can e-mail them at: support@family-historian.co.uk

I have to type in my product key every time I run the program. (Version 5)

To solve this problem, you need to run the program as an administrator. To do this, right-click on the Family Historian icon and choose "Run as Administrator". Then, if you enter the key this time it should 'stick' so that in the future you shouldn't have to keep entering the key.

Why do some of my project names have words in brackets after them? (Version 4)

This normally occurs when a project folder has been copied and the filenames in the folder are out of sync with the Folder name. To correct this, single click the project and then click More Tasks > Properties to rename the project to a unique name.
